This policy is written in plain language so it can be published to a public URL and linked from both the Google Play and Apple App Store listings.
Tuqa does not collect any personal data. There is no account to create, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. Everything you do in the app, what you read, your bookmarks, highlights, reflections, reading history, and memorization progress, stays on your device. We never see it, and it is never sent to us or to anyone else.
The only time Tuqa uses the internet is when you choose to download or stream recitation audio. That request goes to a public recitation host to fetch the audio file you asked for. No personal information about you is sent with it.

We cannot read this content because it never leaves your device. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, this content is removed from your device. Because it is not stored anywhere else, we cannot recover it for you, please use your own device backup if you wish to keep it.
Tuqa ships everything needed to read inside the app, the full Qur'an text, the mushaf page fonts (QCF) and Arabic typefaces, the word-by-word translation, the translations of meaning, and the tafsīr, so reading, with every feature, works completely offline. Audio recitations are the one thing not bundled, to keep the app small.
When, and only when, you tap to download or play a reciter, the app makes a request to a public recitation host to retrieve that audio file. This request:

Tuqa's daily companion can show prayer times and a qibla (Mecca direction) compass. Both need a location to calculate from. That location is:
The qibla compass also reads your device's magnetometer (compass sensor) while the screen is open, purely to point the arrow. Reading the magnetometer needs no separate permission on Android; on iOS the device-motion sensors that steady the needle use the "motion" permission described in the Permissions section below. Those readings are momentary, and they are never stored or transmitted.

Tuqa contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking SDKs. We do not integrate ad networks, attribution tools, social-media trackers, or behavioural analytics. There are no cookies or web trackers.
Tuqa is suitable for users of all ages and is not directed to children under 13. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children, and it contains no ads, no in-app purchases, and no social or messaging features. There is therefore nothing that would trigger obligations under the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) or the GDPR's rules on children's data.
Since your content stays on your device and is never transmitted to us, the security of that data is governed primarily by your device's own protections (screen lock, full-disk encryption, backups). We hold no copy of your data to lose, leak, or be compelled to disclose.
As an added layer, your most personal on-device data, your private reflections (including their text and mood) and your reading history, is encrypted at rest inside the app's own storage, so it is not kept in plain, human-readable form. This guards it in device or cloud backups and against casual inspection of the app's files. This is defence-in-depth on top of your device's encryption, not a substitute for keeping your device locked.
Because we hold none of your personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on a server. You remain in full control of your local data at all times: you can delete bookmarks, reflections, history, and progress within the app, or remove everything by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it.
This applies wherever you live. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, data-protection laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, and the CCPA/CPRA give you rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Tuqa collects, processes, sells, and shares no personal data, so there is nothing held about you for us to act on, and we have never sold or shared data because we never hold any. You also retain the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
This policy is provided by Sprintwright and is governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without limiting any mandatory data-protection rights you may have under the laws of your own country of residence.
If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this policy and revise the effective date above. Because the app is offline and privacy-first by design, we expect any changes to be rare and minor.
